Mir is the co-founder and president of Cemtrec Solutions Ltd., and the President of NED Alumni Association of Alberta both based in Alberta, Canada.
He is determined to support the decarbonization journey of the global cement and concrete industry through innovative process optimization, adaptation of new technologies and sustainable practices. His objective is to significantly reduce the industry’s carbon footprint by promoting the reduction of clinker factor, energy consumption and utilization of Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs) like Natural Pozzolan.
He has 25 years of global experience in building material and construction industry. He has a passion for energy conservation and reducing the carbon footprint at a global scale leading to his active involvement in optimizing energy consumption in the cement manufacturing industry globally.
He has played an instrumental role in improving operational performance and leading teams to success in various countries in North America, Europe, Middle East, and Asia. He has also mentored several engineers globally to optimize the energy consumption and has conducted numerous knowledge transfer workshops.
He returned to Canada in 2018 to work as VP of Cement Quality in the technology sector, and lead teams to implement Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the cement manufacturing industry through software development at Process Solutions Canada Ltd., he then served as VP for Christian Pfeiffer North America to lead their operations before starting his own venture.
Prior to his return to Canada, he served as General Manager – Tuban Plant of Holcim Group in Indonesia and served in Saudi Arabia as Operational Development Advisor to CEO at Saudi Cement. He has also served as a member of the Advisory Council of Dhahran British Grammar School in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
He holds an MBA from the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, USA, a M.Sc. Eng. from the Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada and a B. Eng. from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, Pakistan and is a certified Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada.
