Abdiya Shaheen did her bachelors in Gender and Development Studies from Lahore College for Women University Lahore and Mphil in Gender Studies from University of the Punjab.

Abdiya always wanted to be a doctor but due to some circumstances she couldn't but when she started studying social sciences her interest developed and she is happy with her field, she learnt that human biology is interesting but human behavior is more interesting.​

Since then, Abdiya has worked with different NGOs for the human cause, she has worked for female's reproductive health, skills of the physically challenged people and currently she is working as program Manager at Depilex Smileagain Foundation, an NGO that helps the victims of acid and kerosene oil violence by providing them free reconstructive surgeries, psycho-social support workshops , vocational trainings, job placement and small business set ups for their rehabilitation. It makes her proud that she is working for the social cause and in the process of learning.
