Educational Consultant
Barbara Hoskins is an educational consultant with a Ph.D. from Northwestern University. She has a private practice in Pasadena, California, where she and her team provide professional support so that clients can experience success throughout their lives.
She has worked with people in schools, prisons, and psychiatric hospitals. She has also authored curriculum materials and has presented highly interactive workshops throughout the United States and Canada.
Over the past 15 years, she has spent time in remote communities in Kenya, where she has guided educators to work with learners in interactive and empowering ways that are grounded in the cultural values of their people. In partnership with Maasai warriors, she has raised funds to support initiatives that they design and find to be essential to the well-being of their communities.
Dr. Hoskins has engaged in her work in Kenya as a learner herself, and has developed a profound respect for the Maasai people. She has become highly aware that the strength of a culture lies in its values. She has begun to re-examine key concepts such as poverty, development, and even education. She has established a foundation to partner with the Maasai people to conserve their cultural values, and to bring their wisdom to the world. www.conservemaasaiculture.com
