Megan Parry has a wealth of international experience in global health, community engagement, nursing and education. Megan is driven by the goal of achieving equitable and sustainable universal health coverage for all and believes that primary health care and investment in nursing is the path to achieving this.
Megan is currently Project Manager for the Pediatric Nurse Education Partnership (PNEP) COVID-19 Response Program, funded by Government Affairs Canada. This program works in collaboration with Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM) to provide Ghanaian nurses with skills, equipment and knowledge as part of the country’s COVID-19 response. She also manages other international education and community-based projects in the Philippines, Cambodia, Kenya and Uganda. Prior to this, Megan managed the Global Health and Social Accountability program at the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto working on international education initiatives and managing the WHO Collaborating Center. This inspired her interest in community engagement as a fundamental success factor to achieving health equity. Megan has also had roles leading mentoring programs for Prince’s Trust Canada who supported entrepreneurs and set up the World Child Cancer’s Mexico program which focused on providing quality care for children with cancer in Mexico.
Megan’s management experience is strengthened by her clinical nursing experience, both in the public and private sector, and working as teacher for those whose English is their second language. She is also a member of GLoMHI (Global Health and Migration Initiative) which is committed to informing and critical action to promote social justice and health equity. Finally, she is an active volunteer for Big Brothers and Sisters of Toronto mentoring program.
