Born and brought up in conflict-ridden Jammu and Kashmir, Muda Tariq graduated with majors in Political Science and a minor in Economics in 2020 from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi, one of the most prestigious colleges in India.
In 2019-20, she served as the President of the Department of Political Science, LSR. She has previously served as the Project Head of an UN-recognized students’ entrepreneurship project Basta: Waste to Worth, which strived toward the creation of sustainable women-led economies. She is currently pursuing a post-graduate degree in Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding.
Muda started ‘Words for Peace’, an email correspondence initiative between students of LSR-New Delhi and SZABIST-Karachi, to promote peace between the two countries and start a sub-state level dialogue. Her essay was a winning entry in Women’s Regional Network’s essay competition from India and was selected for the panel of young peace advocates. She has been working with various organizations committed to the protection of human rights and minority rights including JKCCS and the Quill Foundation. She aspires to work in peacebuilding and facilitate peace in conflict zones.
