WELCOME FROM THE FOUNDER

Hello and a warm welcome to the community of Global Thinkers Forum!

In this day and age our world has paradoxically become smaller in size but unlimited in potential for communication, collaboration and change. Innovation and New Technologies are abolishing barriers and borders, while at the same time they create challenges and push for a major mind shift.

Today it is imperative that we think from a global perspective and adapt to a rapidly changing reality.

In a world of uncertainty, instability and rapid change, existing thought leadership and ethics are no guarantee for future progress or even survival.

At the heart of the globalisation riddle lies the question of how leadership, ethics and culture need to transform and adapt to tackle new challenges and complexities of governance.

Do current governance, management and ethical frameworks deliver the global vision, the need for innovation and energy required to break from the past and think ahead under a global mind-set? Critical time is being wasted in an impasse that resembles a ‘gap in global understanding’ creating a complexity where ethics, religions and cultures are used as an excuse and a barrier to differentiate and compete rather than a tool to find common solutions and coordinated action.

In 2009 I coined the term “Globonomy” deriving from the trends and changes generated by the convergence of social, economic, political and cultural landscapes. This new reality has created new dynamics and opened new communication conduits to help bridge the wealth gap by creating collaboration opportunities that transcend nation-states.

We live in a global Eco-nomy, driven by the needs of global Anthropo-nomy and it could be easy to see our world turn into a global A-nomy if leadership does not seek to create a productive global Homo-nomy. This can only be achieved by educating the new leaders to embrace Ideational Governance and look at the world as a huge net of interconnected and interdependent nodes. Human networks have become the new influencers. These networks are of horizontal nature, but can be quite complex, expanded, interwoven or independent at the same time. In the beginning of the 21st century power and change have acquired a bottom-up trajectory.

This is why we decided to launch the Global Thinkers Forum. It is time to change the perception of governance and rethink our values for the future through a global perspective.

So, where do we look for capable, success-orientated, pioneering women in the Arab World and beyond? Experience has shown without a doubt that the largest and most capable talent pool is -beyond politics- in business, arts, civil society and academia. There is no dearth of capable, qualified and highly committed women with a strong investment in social and other progress.

This is a turning point for the MENA region and many preconceived ideas are changing across Politics, Governance, Business, Society. We strongly believe that extensive women’s participation is a necessary imperative for our world and the creation of just societies.

In Amman, Jordan, Global Thinkers identified and celebrated the Leadership of the Future, the new leadership needed to lead Humanity through the 21st Century. Amman was only the beginning!

My very best,
