Katie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Journalism and a concentration in Public Relations.
Prior to joining GTF, she worked as an attorney for several years, focusing primarily in religious asylum and international human rights, notably those of women affected by China’s One-Child Policy. She gained extensive research experience both legal and media-related through her work first as the Senior Research Attorney for a boutique non-profit in Washington, D.C. followed by her role as Director of Communications for one of its human rights-specific projects. She also has a background in collegiate media, having worked as both a writer and assistant editor for publications at UNC-CH and North Carolina State University.
