Lawyer

Geir Lippestad is a Norwegian lawyer and head of the law firm Lippestad. He was defence counsel in the high profile criminal case following the 2001 murder of Benjamin Hermansen and was the lead counsel for the perpetrator of the 2011 Norway attacks, Anders Behring Breivik. When he was appointed as defense counsel for Anders Behring Breivik, he was the world’s focus. An attention which was not particularly positively charged initially.

From being identified with his client and his attitude, got Geir Lippestad communicated why it was right for him to accept the assignment even though he certainly did not share his client’s perceptions. He showed a rare integrity throughout the investigation period, the trial and then. Rather than talk about the technicalities surrounding a hateful sifted, selected Lippestad to emphasize that the case was a picture of democracy under pressure and that we had to protect the distribution of power in society we are so proud to live in. There is a defense attorney a central task – no matter what actions a person is charged with having done. It is a fundamental legal principle that everyone is entitled to a defense.
