Clarissa Rios is an experienced researcher educated as a scientist at Mayor National University of San Marcos (Peru), Karolinska Institute University (Sweden) and University of Queensland (Australia).
She has more than 10 years of experience in conducting multilateral scientific projects and publishing scientific articles in the areas of Biomedicine and Molecular Biology. She is also passionate about social development, her vision is to empower Latin students and promote the social and economic development of Latin American countries. Hence, she is the Founder and Director of the non profit: Ekpapalek, which offers free programmes to promote the professional development of Latin students. She is also one of the selected Global Champions for women economic empowerment (WEE) 2015-2016 of the platform Empower women from UN Women. As a champion for WEE she is currently developing a pilot project for empowering women in Peru that seeks to change women’s current role models.
She is also a collaborator at the first global newspaper of analysis and opinion: Mundiario. In her columns you can find articles on topics ranging from a guide to studying and working abroad to recommendations to push your professional development further. Her articles also features interviews with other Latin students that have leveraged their academic career and are now good role models for younger generations.
She loves exploring, creative thinking, innovation, social change and meeting people that are keen to feed/clash/fusion and recycle each other ideas and projects.
